Make a Referral

All Lives Are Precious (ALPS) provides tier 1 and 2 support (addressing mild to moderate needs). To ensure that our service is the safest and most effective option for you, please review the following exclusion criteria before completing your referral:

  1. Crisis Intervention: ALPS is not a crisis intervention service. If you are experiencing suicidal intent, have an active plan, or are currently self-harming, please contact Lifeline at 0808 808 8000 or the Samaritans at 116 123. Alternatively, contact your GP or the Out of Hours Service immediately.

  2. Complex Mental Health Needs: If you have a complex mental health diagnosis, ALPS would not be the appropriate service to support you, as these needs require tier 3 support or above. We recommend contacting your GP or the Mental Health Practitioner at your surgery for a formal assessment and onward referral to specialized services. Examples include, but are not limited to: PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder (EUPD/BPD), Schizophrenia, or Psychosis.

  3. Concurrent Treatment: If you are currently receiving treatment, counselling, or psychiatric support from another mental health service, we cannot offer sessions until you have been fully discharged and your care is no longer ongoing (subject to the criteria above).

  4. Legal Proceedings: If you have a court case pending or ongoing, we are unable to accept a referral until the full legal process has been completed.

Assessment and Next Steps:

Following the completion of this referral, we will endeavour to contact you within 7 working days.

Please note that meeting the general criteria does not guarantee acceptance into our service. Our Clinical Team will review every referral to determine if another service might be more beneficial for your specific needs. Every individual will undergo a clinical assessment prior to beginning counselling to ensure suitability. If following this assessment it is determined that ALPS is not the right fit, we will provide signposting to a more suitable service.

Are you suffering from a diagnosed medical mental or physical condition, illness, or injury?
Have you been hospitalised in the last 12 months?
Are you currently abusing drugs and or alcohol

A Partnership of Support

At ALPS, we are here to offer you all the support you require. While this service comes at no charge to you, it is important to share that ALPS receives no external funding at all for these counselling sessions. As an organisation, we must fundraise £50 for every single session provided to ensure that help remains available to those who need it most.

To allow us to continue providing this vital lifeline for yourself and others, we encourage all our service users to support the work of ALPS in the future in whatever way you can. You can help us "pay it forward" by supporting our events, fundraising, setting up a monthly donation, or connecting us with corporate sponsorship. Even simply helping us grow our audience through our social media and other outlets makes a massive difference. By championing our work, you ensure that the next person in our community can find the same support that was here for you.
