ALPS heads back to Tabar Mhuire - back to where it all began

Another milestone for ALPS as we make our return to Tobar Mhuire in Crossgar County Down.

It's all started here four years ago with one Counsellor hiring a room when needed, to now having 10 individulas providing Counselling and casework services to the community on a weekly basis.

A few weeks ago we told you of our impending move to new facilities and from tomorrow (Saturday) the new home for counselling with ALPS in the greater Downpatrick area will be located in the confines of Tobar Mhuire.

It's fitting that it all started here and now due to huge demand for our services we are going back, but this time on a full time basis.

Weekly now three Counsellors and a peer mentor will be providing access to services in our own dedicated facilities.

We wish to say a huge thanks to Fr O'Kane and his team in the monastery for welcoming us with open arms, we look forward immensely to working alongside them.

We wish also to thank our dear friend Eammon MC Grady for always being by our side and for pointing us in the right direction, it was his kind words that have eventually steered us back to Tobar Mhuire and we couldn't be more excited about our journey ahead.

Ronan has spent the day getting all ready with Fr O'Kane and we are set to go now from 8am in the morning.

As well as the move of Counselling operations very soon ALPS will be opening a dedicated town centre premises in Downpatrick from which daily operations will be run.
